Ian P. Faria Quoted in The Wall Street Journal on Growing Wave of Mold-Related Lawsuits Against Home Builders

Bradley attorney Ian P. Faria was quoted in The Wall Street Journal, arguing that some mold claims go beyond what the evidence can support and are contributing to rising housing costs.

Faria pushed back on lawsuits that, in his view, may attribute broad or questionable health problems to mold without a strong connection between the alleged mold exposure and the claimed injuries.

“Some of these claims are really tangential at best,” Faria said.

He also highlighted the financial consequences of litigation for home builders and, ultimately, home buyers. “Litigation like this is making [houses] really unaffordable because builders are having to spend a lot of money on experts and on lawyers.”

While there are legitimate mold and construction problems, Faria argued that the litigation surrounding them can become disproportionate.
