Bradley is pleased to announce that Robert Maddox, a partner in the firm’s Birmingham office, has been elected to the American College of Mortgage Attorneys (ACMA) Board of Regents. Mr. Maddox was inducted into ACMA as a Fellow in 2020, and he will serve a three-year term on the Board of Regents.
Formed in 1974, ACMA comprises 550 lawyers in North America who are experts in mortgage law. Fellows share a commitment to giving back to their profession, improving and reforming laws and procedures affecting real estate secured transactions, and raising the level of professionalism of lawyers practicing in this area.
One of the lead lawyers for the largest joint federal/state investigation and settlement in U.S. history, Mr. Maddox serves as chair of Bradley’s nationally ranked Banking & Financial Services Practice Group. His work involves representing clients before the DOJ, EOUST, OCC, FRB, HUD, SEC, CFPB, and multiple state regulatory agencies, including banking, finance and insurance agencies.
A frequent speaker at national real estate programs and financial services industry conferences, Mr. Maddox is a teacher with the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) as a Faculty Fellow on Real Estate Law and Regulatory Compliance at the School of Mortgage Banking (SOMB), Predatory Lending and Mortgage Fraud at the Regulatory Compliance Institute, and Servicing at the State and Local Litigation Conference. He is on faculty at the Cumberland School of Law, where he teaches Banking and Financial Regulation I & II, Corporate Governance, and Real Estate Transfer, Finance and Development, and is an adjunct professor in the Masters of Real Estate Development program at Auburn University. In addition to ACMA, Mr. Maddox is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers, American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, and American Bar Foundation.
