Bradley’s Margaret Oertling Cupples and Stephen Fritz Named to Leadership Roles within The Mississippi Bar
Two attorneys in Bradley's Jackson office were named to leadership roles within The Mississippi Bar during the organization’s 120th Annual Convention held July 9-11 in Sandestin, Florida. Margaret Oertling Cupples was appointed chair of The Mississippi Bar’s Diversity Committee and Stephen Fritz was elected to the Executive Committee of the Appellate Practice Section.
Ms. Cupples, managing partner of Bradley’s Jackson office, will serve a one-year term overseeing the Diversity Committee, helping to coordinate efforts to support The Mississippi Bar’s goal of fostering diversity and inclusion among members of its community. She focuses her practice on civil appeals and commercial litigation and has participated in dozens of appeals in Mississippi’s Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and in the Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Sixth circuits. Ms. Cupples was named the 2023 recipient of The Mississippi Bar’s Susie Blue Buchanan Award, which is presented annually to a woman who has achieved professional excellence in her field and advanced opportunities for women. She is also recognized in numerous legal industry publications and is an active member of the community, having served on several nonprofit boards.
Mr. Fritz will serve a three-year term on the Appellate Practice Section’s Executive Committee. Bradley partner Simon Bailey chaired the section’s meeting held during The Mississippi Bar’s Annual Convention, concluding his service on the executive committee as Mr. Fritz assumes his new role and continues the trend of a Bradley attorney serving on the committee every year since the Appellate Practice Section was established. Mr. Fritz is an associate and a member of Bradley’s Litigation and Appellate practice groups, where he regularly assists clients on product liability and other tort claims, commercial disputes, and federal statutory claims. He is an active member of the Jackson community and was recognized with the Jackson Young Lawyers Association’s Pro Bono Award in 2024.
The Mississippi Bar is dedicated to promoting the highest standards of competence and professionalism and to fostering a legal profession equipped to serve the legal needs of clients and the larger community.
