Bradley Adds Rita Hullett to Bankruptcy Group in Birmingham

Bradley has added Rita L. Hullett to the firm’s Birmingham office as a member of the Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Practice Group.

Monk III. “Her practical perspective and understanding of complex insolvency matters make her an outstanding addition to our team.”

Ms. Hullett represents Chapter 11 debtors, as well as other debtors and creditors in the negotiation of loan modifications, restructurings, forbearance agreements, and settlement agreements. Since 2020, she has served on a panel of Subchapter V trustees for the Northern District of Alabama appointed under the Small Business Reorganization Act providing oversight to debtors in possession, facilitating negotiations with creditors and development of debtors’ plans of reorganization and assisting in the claims resolution process.

Before joining Bradley, Ms. Hullett served as acting general counsel for a multinational company with coal mining, land, and heavy equipment operations in seven states and abroad. In that role, she structured the acquisition of distressed assets and operations, including purchases through § 363 sales and liquidations, procured secured financing and revenue bond transactions, reviewed and negotiated commercial and real estate contracts, and counseled board members and executives on corporate governance and regulatory compliance. She also previously practiced bankruptcy and commercial litigation for more than 20 years at several Birmingham law firms, representing debtors, creditors, landlords, financial institutions, and unsecured creditors’ committees in complex insolvency matters and related litigation.

Ms. Hullett earned her J.D. from Samford University Cumberland School of Law and received her B.A. from Auburn University.
