Michele Madison provides general legal advice to health systems, hospitals and providers on various regulatory and business matters. Michele has significant experience in managing legal issues arising in hospitals, physician offices or integrated health systems, including compliance guidance, employment, investigations, risk management assessment, and corporation management. She provides legal education for health systems’ medical staff, management teams and employees and often facilitates and manages implementation of compliance plans to include HIPAA privacy and security regulations. She has specific experience in negotiating contractual agreements between healthcare providers and service providers, interpreting and advising health systems on regulations applicable to the healthcare industry, and providing regulatory advice with a focus on Stark Law, Anti-Kickback and HIPAA. Michele advises health system governing bodies on regulatory requirements and drafts and negotiates agreements to facilitate strategic initiatives. In addition, she drafts and completes Certificate of Need applications and facilitates regulatory compliance, as well as provides oversight and guidance regarding medical staff governance and credentialing issues.

Michele also works with information technology companies and advises clients on compliance with regulations and industry standards. She drafts and negotiates agreements with hospitals, physicians, managed care organizations and ancillary service providers, as well as contractual agreements for vendors to include information technology arrangements. She advises on security safeguards and compliance with notice and risk mitigation strategies to address security incidents and breaches.
