At 23 years old, Bill Purdy was one of the youngest officers to command a Marine infantry company in Vietnam.
Bill was president of every school his wife attended in Burlington, N.C. (elementary, junior high, high school), until she chose to go to a women’s college. (Whether that was the reason for her choice is still debated).
In younger days, Bill was an avid runner, having completed five marathons. (Best time - 2:53 in Marine Corps Marathon, 1982).
