David has for nearly 30 years been a Commercial Litigator, with an emphasis on Construction and Real Estate Dispute Resolution. David has a national Construction practice representing owners (public and private), contractors, subcontractors, and design professionals in disputes ranging from delay, change orders, defects and licensing. He also has a national "neutrals" practice, serving more than 400 times over the past 20 years as an Arbitrator or Mediator. He is also a national trainer for the American Arbitration Association, and has lectured (locally and nationally) for legal and business groups more than 100 times at construction, arbitration, mediation, alternative dispute resolution, landlord/tenant and real estate seminars.
David was named to the 2011 Super Lawyers Business Edition, Construction Litigation, and he is listed in The Best Lawyers in America® 2010-2012 for his Construction law and Alternative Dispute Resolution practices. He was listed as a Mid-South Super Lawyer, 2009–2011, Corporate Counsel Edition Super Lawyer for his Construction practice, and the Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar" for Construction (2006 & 2012), Alternative Dispute Resolution (2012) and Litigation (2007). He is a member of the Nashville, Tennessee and American (Member, Arbitration and Construction Law Forum) Bar Associations, as well as a founding member of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel. Starting in the Fall of 2012, David will Chair the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel.
David founded the Tennessee Bar Association's Dispute Resolution Section, and has served as Chair three times, most recently in 2008. He also served as the 2009-2010 Section Chair for the Tennessee Bar Association's Construction Law section. He is a past member of the Tennessee Bar Association's Lien Law Committee, the Tennessee Supreme Court ADR Commission, and serves on many nonprofit boards.
