Corby Anderson regularly counsels clients on data privacy issues, particularly in the franchise, retail, and food and beverage industries. Corby drafts and reviews website privacy policies and terms of use. She also reviews companies’ business practices, including their marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns, for compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and industry self-regulatory guidelines. She has advised clients on data breaches involving customers’ payment card data and patients’ medical records. Corby’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, with an emphasis on franchise, intellectual property, and new media law. She has litigated cases in federal courts throughout the United States, as well as in North Carolina’s trial and appellate courts. She has represented clients in trials and appeals involving trademark, copyright, trade secret, patent, unfair competition, false advertising and defamation claims, as well as other contract and business tort disputes.

Corby is a frequent speaker on data privacy and security, intellectual property, and social media issues. She has made presentations on these topics to the Association of Corporate Counsel, the American Bar Association’s Forum on Franchising, the National Association of Licensing and Compliance Professionals, and the North Carolina Bar Association, as well as to corporations in the retail and franchise sectors.
