Chris Grissom practices primarily in the areas of state and local tax planning, state tax disputes, and state and local tax and non-tax incentives. Through his tax controversy, planning and incentives work, he deals with a wide variety of industries, including pulp and paper, solar and renewables, renewable natural gas, software technology, automotive, finance, and telecommunications. Chris regularly counsels many Fortune 500 companies on state tax and incentive mattersand is a frequent speaker at COST, TEI and IPT events. In his ongoing role as vice-chair of the Business Council of Alabama’s Tax and Fiscal Policy Committee, he has worked on numerous state tax policy and legislative projects. 

As chair of the Economic Development & Renewable Energy Practice Group, Chris negotiates various incentive packages with state and local authorities, and advises clients on the maintenance of and the state and local filing requirements for preserving incentives. He has represented Hyundai Heavy Industries, Brose Tuscaloosa, Pack Health, CAE, Rex Lumber and POSCO AAPC in the location of their projects in Alabama. He also has negotiated incentives packages for clients throughout the U.S., in states such as Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and North Carolina.
