Served as counsel to the official committee of unsecured creditors in the Chapter 11 cases of Mission Coal Company, LLC, operator of three mines, involving more than $174 million in debt. Negotiated an out-of-court workout on behalf of a brick manufacturing company with its secured lender who was owed more than $70 million, resulting in the sale of the company’s assets, including 30+ facilities in five states. Managed the wind-down and dissolution of four Alabama mining operations, including the settlement of creditors’ claims and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Served as debtor’s counsel for a biodiesel manufacturing plant in the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. Represented a grocery store chain with 60+ locations in four states in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case as conflicts counsel. Obtained approval of class action settlement with the Family Dollar Stores on behalf of Chapter 13 trustees nationwide. Represented principal of the then-largest Chevrolet dealer in the U.S. with 13 locations nationwide in litigation stemming from the company’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy case. Served as debtor’s counsel in bankruptcy case of a metal casting manufacturer and 23 of its subsidiaries with 16 facilities nationwide and over $750 million in debt.
