Thor learned recently he is not the first lawyer in his family. Thor’s 23-times great-grandfather, Snorri Sturluson (1179-1241), was elected twice as lawspeaker at the Althing, the world’s oldest recorded legislative body. Snorri, an Icelandic chieftain, historian, poet and politician, wrote the Prose Edda, a treatise on skaldic poetry that includes much of what we know about Norse mythology, and the Heimskringla, a history of the Norwegian kings through the early Scandinavian Middle Ages.
